We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Special Education Elementary Teacher to join our team in a unique, dual-role position. This educator will primarily support 4th & 5th grade classrooms at one elementary school by collaborating with classroom teachers to provide inclusive instruction, implement accommodations, and deliver targeted interventions. Additionally, the teacher will serve as a Special Education teacher at a second elementary school, managing IEPs, coordinating services, and delivering direct instruction to students with disabilities.

The ideal candidate is flexible, collaborative, and passionate about creating engaging lessons and strategies for all students across multiple settings. Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with staff, students, and families are essential for success in this position.

The Position

The qualified candidate will support student growth through the use of research based, highly effective instructional practices which promote interactive learning and student engagement. They will meet the needs of each student by building trusted and caring relationships, understanding and implementing best practices, creating and utilizing systems of intervention and support, differentiated instruction, and a variety of instructional strategies. The candidate must be adept with technology and ready to consider emergent techniques to enhance student achievement.

* Develop and implement creative and engaging lesson plans.

* Create a classroom culture that cultivates a sense of community and belonging.

* Incorporate practical application of content knowledge in lesson plans.

* Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of each learner.

* Develop and implement progressive classroom-based interventions.

* Utilize progress monitoring.

* Monitor and evaluate student development and growth through a variety of assessments.

* Maintain accurate and complete student records.

* Establish and maintain an effective and cooperative working relationship with all staff, students, and parents.

* Provide Specially Designed Instruction to meet the needs of each individual student's goals and objectives outlined in their IEP.

* Schedule, attend, and conduct Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) and Individualized Educational Planning Team (IEPT) meetings within required timelines.

* Orient the learning process toward the achievement of specific IEP goals.

* Maintain accurate and complete student records, and prepare reports on students' activities, including abiding by timelines, as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.

* Knowledge of the Common Core State Standards.

* Work collaboratively with Social Work staff in developing and implementing behavior plans.

* Utilize evidence-based resources to facilitate the prescribed curriculum.

* Demonstrate creativity and innovativeness in teaching styles to assist special needs students with problem solving and higher order thinking skills.

* Accommodate the general education curriculum for special needs students, based upon the variety of instructional techniques and technologies.

* Assist special needs students in the assessment and evaluation measures required by the district.

* Establish and maintain an effective and cooperative working relationship with all staff, students, and parents.

Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university with an Elementary Teaching Michigan Teaching Certificate, including Special Education Endorsement such as LD, CI, EI, or ASD.
