Position:
Special Education Secondary Resource Room Teacher
Qualifications:
* Valid Michigan teacher certificate
* Full approval in at least one area of special education
* Math (EX) or English Language Arts (BA) certification preferred
* Proven successful experience in working with students with disabilities
* Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
* The ability to engage students actively and meaningfully in their learning
Responsibilities:
* Must possess and demonstrate the ability to effectively use instructional strategies that have been designed to benefit all students.
* Monitor and track the implementation of IEP goals, supplemental aides, services and supports.
* The teacher will serve as a primary contact for parents and legal guardians for their assigned caseload students.
* The teacher will assess student progress and determine the need for additional instructional support.
* The assigned teacher will use research-based instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives that are written into each student's IEP.
* The teacher will comply with Board of Education policies and all state/federal rules and regulations.
* The teacher will provide other services as directed by the Executive Director of Student Support Services and the assigned building principal.
* The teacher will collaborate and consult with classroom teachers in order to meet the need of their assigned caseload students
* All other duties assigned
