Special Education Long-Term Substitute Teacher

LOCATION:

Berkley High School (Grades 9-12)

START DATE:

April 2026 - June 2026

SALARY: $150 daily rate paid through Edustaff

JOB SUMMARY:

Deliver instruction to students with IEPs in accordance with their Individualized Education Plans through the following courses:

* Resource Room Math 9-10 (teaching Algebra 1 concepts to small groups)

* LRC - Learning Resource Center (supporting students with work completion in academic courses).

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement (SM) preferred

2. Knowledge of Algebra 1 preferred

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide age-related curriculum information and experiences fostering students' academic, social and life planning skills.

2. Provide individual and small group instructional support to students in areas such as becoming an effective and responsible learner, and dealing effectively with interpersonal relationships (for example: functioning as a member of a family or other group).

3. Development and implementation of IEPs.

4. Conduct ongoing progress monitoring of IEP goals and objectives.

5. Ability to develop curriculum and differentiate with special emphasis on socialization, independence and prevocational education.

6. Develop and implement effective strategies to increase parent involvement within the school.

7. Provide information to parents regarding appropriate community agencies and resources.

8. Participate in educational planning team meetings and provide pre-referral consultation and assessment as appropriate.

9. Ability to work collaboratively with District staff.

10. Maintain accurate records and record them in Student Information System.

11. The teacher will provide other services as directed by the Director of Students Services.
