Primary Function:
The Principal leads and oversees the virtual & hybrid school within the Oxford Community School district. They develop, implement, supervise, and evaluate all instructional programming while adhering to Board policies. Additionally, the principal cultivates an inclusive, welcoming environment for students, staff, and families. They support curriculum, instruction, and assessment to implement district expectations and integrate continuous improvement. The principal also conducts personnel evaluations, sets high expectations for success, collaborates on effective procedures/practices for the school, and manages all budgets to support efficient operations and goal achievement.

Qualifications
- Education & Experience:

* Master's degree or higher in administration preferred, with coursework in educational leadership and/or curriculum instruction.

* Michigan Administrative Certification or plan toward obtaining certification per State regulation.

* Valid State of Michigan teaching certificate in Elementary and/or Secondary Education.

* Successful teaching experience is required. Administrative experience is preferred.

* Demonstrated knowledge of current educational issues and best practices, including, but not limited to, Michigan Merit Curriculum, school improvement, general knowledge of instructional technology, reading strategies and process writing, team building, and data analysis.

* Demonstrated leadership and success in parent/community relations, staff development, and human relations.

* Knowledge of current best practice instructional strategies and the ability to improve teacher instruction.

* Experience and knowledge of working with virtual education and technology are preferred.

* Demonstrated knowledge of current federal and state laws and policies.

* Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

* Leadership, management, and administration of the DK-12+ Oxford Virtual Academy and shared time program.

* Supervise the MOU process, legal agreements, and negotiations with OVA's Community Vendors

* Supervise assistant principals' daily operations for all OVA and homeschool lab sites in collaboration with academic Coordinators, including behavioral and academic environments.

* Monitor and assess instructional programs' impact on student achievement and guide the instructional leadership team in the development, coordination, and monitoring of curriculum for the school and complete the school improvement plan.

* Supervise assistant principals who lead the professional growth of all staff and complete evaluations for teaching and support staff.

* Provide quality communication with parents, students, and the community.

* Oversee the school's facilities in partnership with district leadership

* Supervise the financial and business department, including budget oversight, approving purchase orders, check requests, credit card transactions, and journal entries

* Monitor the policies, procedures, and implementation plans for students who need special interventions, including 504s and IEPs.

* Have a working knowledge of each of the virtual vendors being used by students.

* Oversee the academic structure and implementation of all partnership group curriculums. Present the partnership group curriculum to the Board of Education.

* Ensure that all teachers, mentors, and counselors maintain three-way communications with each student throughout the academic calendar per the Michigan pupil accounting laws.

* Evaluate student learning and implement interventions as necessary. Manage the teachers and counselors to uphold the communication schedules designed by the district administration.

* Assist with the marketing for the Oxford Virtual Academy and Oxford Virtual Solutions, organize and attend presentations and recruitment meetings, and oversee the student and parent yearly and semester orientations.

* Ensure that all conversations in the lab uphold the trust and integrity of the Oxford Community Schools. Maintain the highest level of customer service in alignment with the Oxford Virtual Academy model.

* Provide oversight for state testing (MEAP/ACT/MME/Smarter Balance) coordination. Work with district leadership on school data analysis and appropriate learning goals based on score analysis.

* Manage the alignment of vendor curriculum to ensure that all OVA curriculums contain the rigor and benchmarks set by Oxford Community Schools standards.

* Direct OVA school safety team to support and comply with all district safety and security requirements, including the EOP, Drills, and security personnel.
