DESCRIPTION OF THE DISTRICT:

The Brandon School District is a mid-size school district nestled in Northwest Oakland County. The district has approximately 1,000 students in junior kindergarten-5th grade between the two elementary schools, approximately 600 at the middle school level and approximately 850 at the high school. This small, tight knit community has a strong connection to its schools and is passionate about the education of its youth.

Brandon High School sends 85-90% of its graduates to post-secondary school each year, it was ranked in the 82nd percentile of all schools in the State on the top-to-bottom rankings and it was awarded as a Silver Medal Winner by the US News. Our elementary schools are both one-to-one technology are each near the 83rd percentile in State rankings.

POSITION

DESCRIPTION:

We are searching for a long term substitute with a passion for Music and Drama to cover for our full time middle school teacher for approximately 3 weeks. This position will be contracted through Edu Staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* Possesses (or is able to obtain prior to starting) either a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate OR Michigan Substitute Permit

* Educational background in Music, or experience teaching music in some capacity is preferred

* 60 semester hours of satisfactory credit (grade 'C' or better) combined from one or more regionally accredited two- or four-year colleges or universities as required by the State of Michigan

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

* Ability to communicate and work effectively with students, parents, and District staff

* Competency in classroom management and supervision of students

* Ability to work for the intended time period per the school building schedule

* Basic knowledge of music, such as rhythm, pitch, melody, dynamics and tempo

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Responsible for upholding basic rules and procedures

* Ensures the safety of students and instruments

* May create opportunities for exposure to various areas of music

* May assist with planning a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students; some lesson plans will be provided

* Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.

* Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports

* May need to be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day on occasion

* Maintains knowledge of District policies and procedures

* Other duties may be assigned

REPORTS TO:

Building Principal

WORKDAY/WEEK:
Monday-Friday, 7.5 hours/day (7 paid hours, 30 minute unpaid lunch), follows the school schedule for the duration of the assignment

ASSIGNMENT DATES:
Estimated from April 6, 2026 through April 24, 2026; contracted through Edu Staff
