As a Job Coach/Mentor, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young adults as they prepare for and participate in employment. You will work with young adults ages 18–26 in an adult transitional school program, helping them develop the workplace skills, confidence, and independence they need to achieve their employment goals. This is a hands-on position where you will support individuals at community workplaces and in school settings.
No two days are exactly alike!
You will help individuals:
- Learn and successfully perform job duties
- Develop workplace readiness and soft skills
- Build confidence and independence
- Strengthen communication and problem-solving skills
- Understand workplace expectations
- Identify and build upon their individual strengths
- Work toward and achieve their employment goals

As a Job Coach/Mentor, you will:
- Provide individualized coaching and support at community-based employment sites
- Teach individuals how to perform job duties safely, accurately, and independently
- Model appropriate workplace behaviors and expectations
- Provide encouragement and positive reinforcement
- Help individuals develop workplace readiness and soft skills
- Identify strengths, challenges, and areas for skill development
- Adapt teaching and coaching strategies to meet individual learning styles
- Monitor progress and communicate accomplishments and areas needing additional support
- Collaborate with school staff, employers, families, and vocational professionals as appropriate
- Support individuals in working toward long-term employment success
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Positive mentoring and modeling skills
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation to travel between community worksites
- Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check
Physical Requirements
The position requires the ability to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Stooping, bending, reaching, and occasional physical activity
- Lift up to 10 pounds
- Move throughout community-based worksites and school environments
