BIM/VDC Detailer (Mechanical / HVAC)
We are seeking a BIM/VDC Detailer to support the design and coordination of commercial mechanical systems across a range of construction projects. This role is responsible for developing detailed 3D models, producing shop drawings, and supporting project teams through coordination and clash detection processes to ensure constructability and efficiency in the field.
The ideal candidate has experience with Revit and mechanical systems such as HVAC or piping, and is looking to grow within a fast-paced construction environment. This individual will play a key role in ensuring models are accurate, coordinated, and aligned with project requirements from preconstruction through installation.
Our client is a well-established mechanical contractor specializing in HVAC and sheet metal systems, with in-house fabrication capabilities and a strong focus on leveraging VDC technologies to deliver high-quality, efficient project outcomes across commercial and industrial markets.
Key Responsibilities- Develop detailed 3D BIM models for HVAC, ductwork, and mechanical systems
- Create shop drawings and fabrication-ready models for field installation
- Participate in BIM coordination and clash detection using Navisworks or similar tools
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, field teams, and other trades
- Review drawings and specifications to ensure scope accuracy and constructability
- Update models based on coordination meetings, field conditions, and design changes
- Assist with RFIs, submittals, and project documentation as needed
- Support continuous improvement of BIM/VDC standards and workflows
- Ensure models align with project schedules, budgets, and field requirements
- 2-5 years of experience in BIM modeling, detailing, or drafting
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
- Experience working with mechanical/HVAC, piping, or MEP systems
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Experience with Navisworks (clash detection and coordination)
- Familiarity with Fabrication CADmep or Revit Fabrication tools
- Experience working for a mechanical contractor or MEP firm
- Exposure to field installation processes or construction coordination
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field (Engineering, Construction, or similar)
