Bear Staffing Services is proud to partner with Satellite Shelters to find an experienced Senior Service Technician / Yard Supervisor (Direct Hire) to help launch and grow their new Commerce Township (Detroit), Michigan branch.
This is a unique opportunity to join a growing organization from the ground up. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technician who enjoys wearing multiple hats and thrives in a fast-paced environment. You'll be responsible for servicing, inspecting, repairing, preparing, and maintaining modular buildings, supporting field service calls, coordinating yard operations, and helping establish processes that will contribute to the long-term success of the branch.
This role combines technical expertise, customer service, leadership, and operational support. As the branch grows, you'll become a key member of the team, helping build a safe, efficient, and customer-focused operation from day one. Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general building systems within modular buildings.
• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, repairs, and general maintenance on modular buildings in both the yard and at customer locations.
• Prepare modular buildings for delivery by ensuring each unit meets company quality and safety standards.
• Coordinate daily yard operations by organizing inventory, equipment, and modular buildings.
• Assist with loading, unloading, staging, and preparing units for transportation.
• Respond to customer service calls and provide professional, timely service in the field.
• Coordinate with customers, vendors, drivers, and branch leadership to ensure projects remain on schedule.
• Maintain accurate work orders, inspection reports, and service documentation.
• Promote a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
• Assist with developing branch procedures and supporting the continued growth of the Detroit location.

Travel Requirements

• Travel is required to support customer service calls and field service operations.
• While most work will be based out of the Commerce Township branch, occasional travel of up to approximately five hours from the branch may be required based on customer needs.
• Overnight travel may occasionally be required depending on service schedules.

Qualifications
Required

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• 5+ years of experience as a Service Technician, Field Service Technician, Facilities Maintenance Technician, HVAC Technician, or similar skilled trade.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Comfortable using hand and power tools.

Preferred

• EPA Universal Certification strongly preferred
• HVAC certification or significant HVAC troubleshooting and repair experience.
• Previous experience working with modular buildings, mobile offices, manufactured housing, RVs, or commercial facilities.
• Leadership or yard operations experience.
• Forklift certification or experience.
• Experience working in construction, facilities maintenance, or industrial environments.

Compensation
Competitive pay based on experience (DOE)
Recommended advertising range: $30.00 $ 38.00/hour (Higher consideration will be given to candidates with EPA Universal certification, extensive HVAC experience, and previous leadership or supervisory experience.)
