We are partnering with a well-established, mechanical contractor in Connecticut to identify an Assistant Controller. This is a hands-on, high-visibility accounting role supporting daily operations, construction billing, job costing, and process improvement initiatives in a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Manage daily accounting: AP, AR, payroll, GL, and reconciliations

+ Lead month- and year-end close and financial statement prep

+ Oversee job costing, WIP, certified payroll, union reporting, and relief tracking

+ Handle construction billing, including AIA requisitions and lien waivers

+ Partner with operations on change orders, CTCs, and project reporting

+ Maintain fixed assets, leases, and filings

+ Prepare cash flow, budgets, forecasts, and labor rates

+ Support ERP systems and cross-functional accounting projects

+ Build strong relationships across teams and external partners

+ Mentor and manage 1-2 accounting staff

Requirements

Required Qualifications &

Experience:

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

+ 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience in mechanical services/construction

+ Well-rounded accounting knowledge (GL, AP, AR, payroll, job costing, fixed assets, bank reconciliations, sales tax)

+ ERP system experience; proficiency with Excel and Microsoft 365
