Amphenol is seeking an experienced Import Compliance Manager to help support and strengthen its global import compliance program. This is a high-impact role for a practical, business-minded trade compliance professional who can partner effectively with business leaders across a global manufacturing organization.
The right candidate will bring strong knowledge of U.S. customs and import requirements, sound judgment, and the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, workable guidance for the business. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building processes, solving problems, partnering cross-functionally, and helping a company manage risk while supporting efficient global operations.
While Amphenol is open to considering all highly qualified candidates, including full‑time remote, preference will be given to candidates who can work regularly from our Wallingford, CT headquarters.
Duties & Responsibilities- Spearhead import compliance program initiatives by interpreting complex customs and import laws and regulations and assessing their applicability and impact on Amphenol’s products, materials, components, and supply chain operations.
- Work with internal customers and customs brokers to support accurate tariff classification, country of origin determinations, customs valuation, recordkeeping, and admissibility analysis for imported products and materials.
- Become familiar with the company’s import compliance policy and amend it as necessary.
- Provide import compliance training for internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct regular and periodic import compliance assessments and internal audits.
- Prepare internal and external correspondence, guidance, and compliance documentation; interact daily with employees, vendors, brokers, and government agencies domestically and internationally.
- Assist with identifying import compliance red flags and develop responses and recommendations for local businesses and senior management.
- Support duty optimization and special program eligibility analyses, including free trade agreements, duty drawback, temporary importation, and other customs-saving opportunities where applicable.
- Manage customs broker oversight processes and help ensure the accuracy and completeness of entry filings, post‑entry corrections, and related customs submissions.
- Review import compliance language for inbound and outbound agreements and contracts as needed.
- Work with cross‑functional teams, including supply chain, procurement, logistics, finance, tax, engineering, and operations, to review import compliance requirements for company products and transactions.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable U.S. government agency requirements relating to imports, including U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Partner Government Agency requirements as applicable.
