ESL Instructor
Wallingford Adult Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic ESL Instructor to join our adult education team.
Location:
Spanish Community of Wallingford (SCOW), Wallingford, CT
Schedule:
Monday Thursday, 9:30 a.m.12:00 p.m. Professional Development Begins:
Mid-August 2026 Classes Begin:
Mid-September 2026
Responsibilities:
- Provide engaging English language instruction to adult learners from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.
- Teach reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills aligned with adult education standards.
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
- Integrate technology and digital literacy skills into instruction.
- Participate in professional development and collaborate with program staff.
Qualifications:
- Valid Connecticut teaching certification required.
- Adult Education ESL Endorsement #088 or ESL Endorsement #111 required.
- Experience teaching English language learners preferred.
- Strong digital literacy skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet varying language proficiency levels.
Compensation:
- $50.00 per hour through August 31, 2026
- $51.00 per hour beginning September 1, 2026
- 30 minutes of paid planning time per class session
