Description

A full time position exists for a Confirmation and Youth Ministry Coordinator who will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing a comprehensive Confirmation preparation process for students in grades 7 and 8 as well as developing a sustainable and collaborative youth ministry program for teenagers in grades 9-12. Rooted in the mission of evangelization and discipleship, this role seeks to accompany young people as they deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ, grow in their understanding of the Catholic faith, and become active participants in the life and mission of the parish.

Requirements

Education

MA in Theology/Religious Education or a related theological field and six (6) credits or sixty hours of in-service in administration, educational methods, supervision, and Catechesis preferred. Candidates with MA in Education or Educational Administration with twenty-four semester credits in Theology and Catechesis are welcome to apply. Applications are also accepted from candidates with MA in an unrelated field with twenty-four semester credits in Theology and Catechesis and six credits or sixty clock hours of in-service in administration, educational methods, supervision and catechesis.

Qualified candidates must possess knowledge of Catholic theology with an understanding of and commitment to the Catholic Church and its mission, strong organizational skills, and must be self-motivated as well as be a good role model and faithful witness of the faith to the youth.

Summary Faith Formation and Confirmation Preparation
  • In collaboration with the Director of Faith Formation, develop and oversee a two-year Confirmation preparation process for students in grades 7 and 8.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Faith Formation, facilitate the transition of the Confirmation Preparation Program from a high-school based program to the new Archdiocesan-wide middle school-based program.
  • Provide engaging catechetical experiences that deepen participants' understanding of Scripture, Catholic teaching, and the theology of the Sacrament of Confirmation.
  • Integrate prayer, worship, retreats, and sacramental life into the Confirmation journey.
  • Build meaningful relationships with participants and their families.
  • Foster a culture of belonging where every young person feels known, valued, and welcomed.
  • Design experiences that connect candidates to the wider life of the parish community.
  • Help candidates identify their gifts and discover their place within the parish community.
  • Coordinate service opportunities that promote Christian discipleship and Catholic social teaching.
  • Provide opportunities for youth to exercise leadership within the Confirmation program and parish life.
  • Partner with parents and guardians in their role as the primary educators of their children in the faith.
  • Facilitate meetings, workshops, and formation opportunities for parents, sponsors, and volunteers.
Youth Ministry
  • Designsandmaintainsacomprehensiveyouthministryprocess,includingsystematiccatechesis,to meet the needs of adolescents (grades 9-12).
  • Plansanddirectsthehighschoolyouth ministry program programs.
  • Creates opportunities for middle school youth to get introduced to what lies ahead with high school youth ministry.
  • Organizesallprayer,worship,andteachingofhighschool events, retreats and conferences.
  • Provide opportunities for youth to take on leadership roles within the youth ministry program and parish life.
  • Createacommunitywherethedeeploveandmercyof Godislived,experienced and shared.
  • Collaborating with parish leaders to create a meaningful and intentional intergenerational culture of which youth are an integral part
