Staff Project Controls Specialist (Scheduling)

Overview

Our client is seeking a Staff Project Controls Specialist (Scheduling) to support large-scale engineering and construction projects. This individual will partner closely with Project Managers and cross-functional teams to develop, maintain, and analyze project schedules, forecasts, budgets, and project controls throughout the project lifecycle.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong scheduling and project controls experience who enjoys working on complex infrastructure or utility projects in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and other project controls tools.
  • Create and manage Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) for multiple projects.
  • Monitor project schedules, costs, cash flow forecasts, and earned value metrics.
  • Analyze schedule performance, critical path activities, resource loading, and project progress.
  • Perform schedule updates, logic reviews, and "what-if" scenario analyses.
  • Generate and present scheduling, cost, and forecasting reports to project leadership.
  • Support engineering, procurement, and construction planning activities.
  • Review purchase orders, subcontracts, and change orders for proper project coding.
  • Track project costs, contingency budgets, and forecast updates.
  • Partner with Project Management and Accounting teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Participate in Interactive Project Planning Meetings (IPPM).
  • Conduct quality reviews, field audits, and project controls inspections to validate reporting accuracy.
  • Maintain progress curves and earned value management systems.
  • Perform material takeoffs and support project forensic analysis when required.
  • Serve as the project controls subject matter expert for scheduling-related questions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and project standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (equivalent experience may be substituted).
  • 3+ years of project controls, project scheduling, or project planning experience.
  • Experience supporting engineering, construction, utility, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of project scheduling methodologies, critical path analysis, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to obtain OSHA 10 certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Oracle Primavera P6.
  • Experience with earned value management (EVM).
  • Experience with engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects.
  • Familiarity with project forecasting, resource loading, and schedule analytics.
