Our client is seeking an experienced Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager to lead the operation of its wastewater treatment facility in Wallingford, CT. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and fully compliant plant operations while serving as the site's Chief Operator. The successful candidate will oversee plant performance, regulatory compliance, team leadership, environmental initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.

• Manage all daily wastewater treatment plant operations to ensure safe, efficient treatment and discharge within permit requirements.
• Serve as the site's Chief Operator, making operational decisions to maintain regulatory compliance and optimal plant performance.
• Lead, train, and develop wastewater treatment personnel.
• Ensure 24/7 operational coverage by managing staffing schedules and providing support as needed.
• Monitor treatment processes, operational data, and performance metrics to identify issues and implement corrective actions.
• Conduct root cause investigations and drive resolution of operational, environmental, and safety concerns.
• Perform inspections and audits to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards.
• Prepare, review, and submit required regulatory reports and documentation accurately and on time.
• Act as the primary contact for state and federal environmental regulatory agencies.
• Support environmental, remediation, maintenance, and process improvement projects.
• Coordinate contractors, vendors, permits, and site activities related to wastewater operations.
• Drive initiatives focused on efficiency, sustainability, compliance, and cost reduction.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in wastewater treatment, industrial water treatment, environmental operations, or a manufacturing environment.
• Previous supervisory, management, or team leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of EPA, state environmental regulations, wastewater treatment processes, and environmental compliance requirements.
• Connecticut Wastewater Operator Level 3 Certification required.
• Ability to obtain Connecticut Wastewater Operator Level 4 Certification within two years.
• Experience with regulatory reporting, data analysis, and environmental documentation.
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage plant operations, and maintain compliance in a regulated industrial environment.
