POSITION

DESCRIPTION:

Commercial Credit and Loan Administration, under the general supervision of the Senior Credit Risk Manager, evaluates the financial condition of businesses and individuals applying for commercial loans.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Analyze commercial loan requests and make credit recommendations to the appropriate lending authority in accordance with the Bank's Loan Policy and Procedures Manual:

  • Analyze credit risk in both existing and prospective commercial loan relationships.
  • Work directly with Commercial Lending Officers to obtain all information necessary to underwrite loan requests.
  • Prepare spreadsheets, analyze financial information, and develop cash flow analyses for prospective and existing borrowers for supervisory review.
  • Perform analyses of prospective Bank vendors on an annual basis, when appropriate, and upon request.
  • Prepare loan offering memoranda by analyzing financial, collateral, cash flow, and other relevant information regarding prospective borrowers and guarantors. Assess credit risk, determine creditworthiness, underwrite transactions in accordance with Loan Policy, and present recommendations to the appropriate lending authority.
  • Assist in collecting all pertinent financial and operating information on commercial borrowers to ensure ongoing financial capacity and compliance with loan covenants.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate financial records for each commercial borrower relationship.
  • Maintain commercial credit files to ensure the adequacy of loan documentation and supporting information.
  • Maintain a presence in local Chambers of Commerce and other civic or business organizations to promote community involvement and awareness of business lending opportunities.
  • On a limited basis, perform credit analysis of prospective Bank vendors.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Complete all required compliance training in a timely manner.
  • Assist in conducting annual reviews of existing commercial loan relationships.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & TRAINING REQUIRED FOR MAXIMUM PROFICIENCY:

Banking education, training, or professional certifications are preferred. Strong financial analytical skills are required. Proficiency in Word, Excel, and other Microsoft Office applications is required. Familiarity with automated underwriting systems is a plus.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, managers, and subject matter experts, are required.

EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED:

0-2 years of commercial underwriting or related credit analysis experience. Knowledge of financial statement analysis, accounting principles, and relevant industry trends and practices is required.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Additional banking education and formal credit training are preferred.
