About the Role
RN Behavioral Health Manager Infection Prevention is responsible for the system for preventing, identifying, reporting, investigating, and controlling infections and communicable diseases for all patients, staff, volunteers, visitors, and other individuals providing services under a contractual arrangement.
Responsibilities- Responsible for written standards, policies, and procedures for the program, which must meet all guidelines, including Covid.
- Establish a system for surveillance, based upon national standards of practice and the facility assessment.
- Collect, analyze, interpret, and disseminate surveillance data to identify infections, infection risks, and communicable disease outbreaks.
- Serve as the Infection Preventionist and chairperson for the Infection Control Committee.
- Consult with the Infection Control Committee concerning the implementation of the infection control program.
- Review microbiology reports for pathogens and implement control measures as appropriate.
- Make regular rounds investigating potential infections and maintain an ongoing record of each infection noted.
- Assist in resolving problems and concerns while maintaining effective communication with the health care team.
- Collect statistics and prepare regular reports to the infection control committee and appropriate department heads.
- Create interventions and education plans based on monthly inspection reports.
- Gather data and report CLABSI, CAUTI,
C. Difficile, staff influenza, covid reporting, and vaccination reports to NHSN. - Implement infection control measures and provide education to all facility personnel involved in patient care.
- Develop and update infection control and isolation policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with laboratory partners regarding the antibiogram report.
- Keep accurate records of infections and present detailed report summaries at quarterly medical staff meetings.
- Provide guidance and monitor health care providers in meeting infection control practices and standards.
- Address various aspects of patient/resident health, including hygiene and immunizations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned and attend meetings/calls from all regulatory agencies.
- Education:
Registered Nurse - Infection Control Certification preferred
- Wound certification preferred
- Minimum of five years of clinical nursing supervisor experience
- 1-3 years of behavioral health experience preferred
- Experience in clinical information systems preferred
- Experience in project planning and implementation preferred
- RN license in State of Connecticut
- ICN certification preferred
- IP certification and wound certification preferred
