PositionSummary
Responsible for oversight and management of all Connecticut Foodshare operations staff, warehouse operations (order selection, warehouse safety, product sortation, agency pick ups, mobile loading operations & inventory control), fleet operations (transportation, distribution, fleet maintenance & fleet safety), and establishment of and conformance to systems, policies and procedures. Reports to Chief Operations Officer.
Essential Duties and AccountabilitiesPrimary Responsibilities
- Organizes and supervises daily operations of Connecticut Foodshare.
- Recruits, trains, and supervises staff with a focus on employee development and succession planning.
- Models inclusive, values-based leadership and reinforces Connecticut Foodshare’s culture and mission.
- Recommends annual and long-term, strategic operations goals and objectives including budget projections and forecasting of capital expenditures.
- Develops and implements systems, policies and procedures to ensure accordance with codes, regulations and standards of all reporting authorities such as Feeding America, OSHA & DOT.
- Establishes and monitors enterprise operational KPIs, dashboards, and performance scorecards.
- Ensures operational reporting is timely, accurate, and actionable for senior leadership and the Board.
- Maintains inventory control systems.
- Ensures that decisions are fact based & data-influenced.
- Ensures consistent adoption of standard work, SOPs, and best practices across all operational teams.
- Ensures audit readiness and compliance across all operational functions.
- Partners with HR, Safety, and Food Safety teams to mitigate employee safety, labor, and regulatory risks.
- Ensures safe handling of food and improves efficiency of processing donated food to prevent quality issues.
- Utilizes process improvement strategies to improve efficiency and product quality.
- Coaches and develops managers to lead effectively through complexity and change.
- Stays current on best practices and emerging trends in food banking, logistics, and supply chain operations.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in related field with 5 years of related experience in similar or related function in comparable environment OR 10 years of related experience in similar or related function in comparable environment.
- Experience with data-influenced decision-making and analysis.
- 3 years of management experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Bachelor's degree in related field with 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in similar or related function OR 12+ years of progressively responsible experience in similar or related function.
- Experience with inventory control systems.
