Full Time.
The Tooling Technician is an advanced technical role responsible for leading the Department in the preparation and documentation of rolls for the production process. This role independently prepares and produces all rolls in inventory, manages inventory levels, tracks lot usage, ensures cleanliness of the Roll Grinding and Roll Making Rooms, and documents all roll manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities- Safely operate all Orafol manufacturing equipment while following OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory policies.
- Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.
- Work autonomously and within a team, self‑start and manage in a fast‑paced environment.
- Pass comprehensive Powered Industrial Truck training to operate PITs.
- Maintain strong oral and written communication skills; complete all paperwork/documentation accurately and timely.
- Follow all procedures, instructions, and specifications; document any changes or exceptions.
- Independently assemble, cast, demold, grind, coat, and inspect rolls.
- Determine when a roll requires attention.
- Manage raw materials for each step of the roll making process; place orders for needed materials.
- Seek further experience through company mandates and independent training.
- Initiate additional tasks during slack times (e.g., training, cleaning, process improvement).
- Complete scheduled tasks within designated time frames; meet specific performance targets.
- Provide suggestions and ideas to improve processes; act as an active change agent.
- High School Diploma required.
- Must meet all criteria of the Tooling Technician 1 Job Detail.
- Prior mechanical and tooling experience; highly detailed‑oriented.
- Positive can‑do attitude, sense of accountability, and initiative.
- Fast learner, driven, self‑motivated, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Maintain a clean and presentable appearance; keep a clean, neat, orderly work area and maintain tools and equipment.
- Adhere to Employee Attendance Expectations; work well with others and across shifts and departments.
The above duties represent typical responsibilities of the Tooling Technician 2 position. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
