Full‑time, first shift, 40 hours per week - Schedule:
8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday - Hybrid work schedule becomes available after a 6‑month probationary period

Supervise nursing staff engaged in professional nursing activities.
Responsibilities (Examples of Duties)- Plan, organize, and direct health services for assigned units or geographical areas
- Ensure goals and objectives align with standards and provide quality care to individuals
- Provide clinical guidance to nursing staff
- Select, develop, motivate, and evaluate staff and conduct performance evaluations
- Monitor the quality of documentation, records, and other service information
- Ensure resources are available to provide quality services
- Participate in the development of policies, procedures, and long‑range plans for health care programs
- Act as a liaison with other units, agencies, and external organizations
- Prepare, analyze, and evaluate reports concerning service delivery
- Respond to psychiatric or medical emergencies and may physically restrain individuals
- Oversee all nursing operations in the absence of the Director of Nursing
- Perform related duties as required
- Knowledge of nursing principles, clinical therapeutic models, and standards of nursing
- Knowledge of specialized individual nursing care in assigned areas
- Knowledge of current medications, their actions, interactions, uses, and side effects
- Sensitivity to cultural and socio‑economic differences and ability to apply family systems theory
- Familiarity with procedures and protocols of applicable accrediting institutions
- Knowledge of management and administrative principles and human resource development strategies
- Interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with professionals, community resources, and providers
- Ability to encourage cooperation, trust, and teamwork
- Leadership and guidance in developing and maintaining nursing standards and enhancing health care delivery
- Ability to respond to crises and emergencies and use professional judgment for continuous improvement
- Supervisory ability
Four (4) years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital, regional, institutional, or psychiatric setting.
Minimum Qualifications – Substitutions Allowed- A bachelor’s degree in nursing may substitute for one (1) year of general experience
- A master’s degree in nursing may substitute for one (1) additional year of general experience
- Experience supervising nurses in a healthcare setting
- Experience providing nursing care to adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities
- Experience working in community and family home settings and coordinating in‑home supports
- Experience with private sector providers and clinicians
- Experience interpreting collective bargaining agreements and collaborating with union representatives
- Experience with Department of Public Health licensing requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)
- Must possess and retain a current license or temporary permit as a Registered Nurse in Connecticut or hold a multistate or compact RN license
- Possibility of requirement to be fluent in a foreign language or proficient in American Sign Language for designated positions
- May be required to travel
May be required to lift and restrain individuals; may have exposure to communicable diseases and risk of injury from assaultive or abusive individuals; may encounter disagreeable conditions.
