This Second Chef role at Barchester Healthcare's care home in Wallingford provides an opportunity to work with fresh, seasonal ingredients and deliver high-quality, nutritious meals for the residents. Main duties of the job

As the Second Chef, you will assist the Head Chef in creating varied, appetizing, and well-balanced menus tailored to the preferences and dietary needs of the residents. You will work with fresh, seasonal produce to prepare meals to the highest standards, while maintaining a warm and welcoming environment in the kitchen. In the Head Chef's absence, you will be responsible for managing the kitchen operations.

The role also involves regular audits, stock control, and working within a budget.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • You should hold a City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualification, have a good understanding of nutrition and experience in working with fresh, seasonal food. Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to engage with residents, and a good understanding of HACCP are also essential.
