Job Title
The Construction Accountant
OverviewWe are a full‑service general contractor committed to delivering high‑quality construction projects with precision, integrity, and accountability. We specialize in managing projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring each phase is executed with attention to detail and a focus on client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and monitor job cost accounting for multiple active projects
- Prepare and analyze Work‑In‑Progress (WIP) schedules
- Apply percentage‑of‑completion accounting methods in accordance with industry standards
- Track project budgets, costs, and profitability, identifying variances and providing insights
- Manage project billing processes, including progress billing and client invoicing
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate cost tracking and forecasting
- Assist with month‑end and year‑end close processes related to project financials
- Support audits and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3+ years of construction accounting experience, preferably with a general contractor
- Strong understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, and percentage‑of‑completion accounting
- Experience with construction billing processes (AIA billing experience is a plus)
- Proficiency in accounting software and Excel
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
- Experience working in a high‑growth construction environment
- Familiarity with ERP systems commonly used in construction (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, Foundation)
