We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this role will work closely with the Controller and Tax Manager and play a key role in financial reporting, month-end and quarter-end close activities, audit support, and tax compliance. The Senior Accountant will support a diverse portfolio of real estate entities, investment funds, and REIT structures, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with U.S. GAAP.

Key Responsibilities
  • Import, review, and analyze financial information received from external property managers.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, semiannual, and annual financial reports for multiple real estate entities and low-income housing investment funds.
  • Perform financial statement analyses and variance investigations to identify trends, discrepancies, and reporting issues.
  • Review financial data imported into Quick Books Online and evaluate accounting treatments to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Analyze quarterly financial statements for multiple private investment funds and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Review financial results and supporting schedules prepared by third-party accountants for a public REIT and its subsidiaries, assessing the reasonableness of reported balances and accounting treatments.
  • Assist the CFO with the preparation of consolidated financial statements for a private REIT and related entities.
Month-End Close & Compliance
  • Manage and monitor the month-end close process for the public REIT, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Coordinate with external property managers, third-party accountants, lenders, and internal stakeholders to resolve outstanding accounting issues.
  • Prepare and review lender-required financial reports and supporting documentation.
Audit & Tax Support
  • Coordinate the preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation for annual audits of private funds and public REIT entities.
  • Work collaboratively with external auditors and assist in resolving accounting and reporting matters.
  • Compile, organize, and analyze information required for annual tax return preparation under the guidance of the Tax Manager.
Special Projects
  • Support the CFO with financial analyses, process improvements, and other strategic or ad hoc projects as needed.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including financial statement preparation and review.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and the ability to apply accounting guidance to both routine and complex transactions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
  • CPA designation or progress toward CPA certification.
  • Experience with real estate, investment funds, REITs, or partnership accounting.
  • Experience preparing partnership tax returns.
  • Working knowledge of Quick Books Online and Lacerte Tax software.
