The City of Walnut Creek’s Camp Community Arts is seeking one detail-oriented, part-time Site Coordinator to support our dynamic camp program. The Site Coordinator will support the program with a variety of day-to-day operational tasks, from processing camp registration documents to handling program communication and more. The Site coordinator will help to create an environment that emphasizes fun and process-based learning.
We will be offering various single-day camps, two weeklong camps in Fall and Spring; and summer camp programs running June 14 - August 5, 2027.
Camps will consist of:
- Single-Day Camps:
October 12, 2026;
October 26, 2026;
November 23, 2026;
November 24, 2026;
February 11, 2027;
February 12, 2027;
March 15, 2027;
March 31, 2027 - Spring Break Camp:
April 4 - April 9, 2027 - Summer Camp Counselor Training:
June 9 - June 11, 2027 - Summer Camp 1:
June 14 - June 25, 2027 - Summer Camp 2:
June 28 - July 9, 2027
* No camp July 5 - Summer Camp 3:
July 12 - July 23, 2027 - Summer Camp 4:
July 26 - July 30, 2027 - Summer Camp 5:
August 2 - August 6, 2027
All camps will be located at Center for Community Arts – Shadelands Art Center (111 North Wiget Lane, Walnut Creek, CA 94598) and Center for Community Arts – Civic Park Preschool (1375 Civic Dr, Walnut Creek, CA 94596).
Ideal CandidateIdeal candidates for this position have the following skills:
- Has a strong background in youth education or early childhood development, with a solid understanding of social-emotional learning and effective youth behavior management strategies;
- Possesses strong people skillsandexceptional customer service skills;
- Has strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Has strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Is technologically proficient with MS Office Suite;
- Flexible and adaptable to meet changing work needs and demands;
- Able to handle multiple tasks efficiently and accurately;
- Proactive and efficient at problem solving;
- Able towork independently, as well aspart of a team;
- Able toplan and facilitate workshops and trainings;
- Able to effectively supervise staff andmanagescheduling;
- Experience working with youth programs such as summer camps or after school programs.
This is an ongoing, part-time, non-benefitted position. Hourly rate of pay is $23.50-$26.50. Placement in the range will depend upon the level of education and experience. Hours vary depending on time of year, with hours increasing during Camp program weeks. We estimate hour needs to be the following:
- 20-35 hours per week during the one week of Spring Camp, in addition to camp move-in and move-out weeks prior to and following the camp schedule. Spring camp runs from April 4 to April 9, 2027.
- 20-35 hours per week during the eight weeks of Summer Camp, in addition to camp move-in and move-out weeks prior to and following the camp schedule. Summer camps will run from June 14 to August 6, 2027.
- Flexibility – Seasonal camp commitments often fit well around school schedules, other jobs, or personal commitments.
- Variety and energy – Seasons (especially summer or holiday periods) bring unique program energy, unique or themed events, and a fun, fast-paced environment.
- Skill-building – Try something new, gain experience in a specific area, or build leadership skills without a full-time commitment.
- Opportunities for ongoing work – camp seasons happen every year. There may be opportunity to return for another year/season.
