On-Call Archaeologist

Position Overview

We are looking to expand our Northern California on‑call archaeological team. Work will take place primarily in Northern California, but could include work throughout California, with potential opportunities in Alaska, Oregon, Washington, and Nevada. This is a fieldwork position heavily influenced by seasonal weather. Occasionally office or lab‑based work may be required.

• Identify and record potential archaeological areas, sites, and traditional use sites.
• Collaborate with a Field Director/Supervisor to make technical recommendations for cultural resource management.
• Collect field data and conduct field reconnaissance surveys (linear and block type).
• Prepare monitoring logs, survey forms, site records, and other field documentation and provide brief work summaries for technical reports and client communications.
• Conduct excavations.
• Assist with construction monitoring.

• Interest in Cultural Resource Management.
• Commitment to a strong safety culture.
• Ability to travel and work away from home.
• Valid California driver’s license.

• Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or Archaeology (minimum 1‑year related experience). Advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Participation in an archaeological field school is an asset.
• Physical ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs and work in varied weather conditions.

• Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas: $50,100.00 - $70,100.00 Annually.
