On-Call Archaeologist

We are looking to expand our Northern California on‑call archaeological team. The work will take place primarily in Northern California, with potential opportunities in Alaska, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, and throughout California. This is a field‑work position, heavily influenced by seasonal weather, with occasional office or lab work.

• Participate in identifying and recording areas of archaeological potential, archaeological sites, and traditional use sites.
• Work closely with a Field Director/Supervisor to make technical recommendations for cultural resources management.
• Collect field data.
• Participate in field reconnaissance surveys (linear and block type).
• Prepare monitoring logs, survey forms, site records, and other field documentation, and provide brief work summaries for technical reports and client communications.
• Engage in excavations.
• Construction monitoring.

• Interest in Cultural Resource Management.
• Dedicated to following and promoting a strong safety culture.
• Able to travel and work away from home.
• A valid California driver’s license is required.

• Required:
  
  A Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or Archaeology and a minimum of 1‑year related experience, or an equivalent combination of advanced education and experience (preferred).
• Participation in an archaeological field school is an asset.
• Field work may include exposure to inclement weather; ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.

Typical office environment requires regular computer use and extended sedentary periods. Field work may expose candidates to outdoor elements and inclement weather.

• Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas – $50,100.00 - $70,100.00 Annually
