Job Description

First Carbon Solutions (FCS) is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Environmental Analyst (CG02/03) to join our multidisciplinary environmental consulting team. This role is ideal for candidates who enjoy research, writing, and problem‑solving, and who are eager to build a career supporting California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance.

The Environmental Analyst will collaborate with project managers and technical specialists across multiple disciplines—including biology, cultural resources, noise, air quality, and greenhouse gas emissions—to support the preparation of environmental documents for public and private development projects.

Compensation: $22 - $30 Hourly

Responsibilities
  • Conduct research, organize, and analyze data on a wide range of environmental topics (land use, biological resources, cultural resources, air quality, noise, greenhouse gases, utilities, and more) to support CEQA and NEPA environmental review, consistent with established guidelines.
  • Draft clear, accurate, and technically sound sections of environmental documents, including Initial Studies, EIRs/EISs, Addenda, and Exemptions, incorporating sub‑consultant reports, field data, and personal research.
  • Review development site plans, conceptual layouts, and technical studies to support impact analysis.
  • Support Project Managers by providing research, background information, and document content needed to meet project requirements.
  • Communicate with internal technical specialists across multiple disciplines, and external agencies, authorities, and sub‑consultants to collect and verify relevant data, and integrate findings into environmental documents.
  • Conduct site visits to support environmental analysis.
  • Perform administrative and quality‑control tasks such as document formatting, file organization, and consistency checks.
  • Gain practical, hands‑on experience in the environmental consulting industry through project work and mentorship.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Planning, Geography, Biology, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of professional experience OR formal education in related field inclusive of technical writing.
  • Strong writing, editing, and analytical skills with the ability to translate complex information into clear, concise text.
  • Ability to interpret and summarize regulatory requirements, technical reports, and environmental data.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast‑paced consulting environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Qualifications
  • Familiarity with CEQA, NEPA, and environmental planning concepts.
  • Experience reviewing or interpreting development site plans, engineering drawings, or GIS maps.
  • Prior experience in customer service or office administration, demonstrating transferable skills such as communication, task management, and client interaction.
