Position

Stantec Consulting Services Inc. seeks a driven Senior Coastal Engineer, Coastal Scientist, or Coastal Planner to join our growing Coastal Engineering practice. The candidate will be a leader and mentor with a minimum of 10 years of coastal experience and located in the San Francisco Bay Area, where they will serve as the Practice’s on‑ground presence for coastal work in the SF Bay.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership overseeing Stantec’s ongoing coastal work in the San Francisco Bay Area, and potentially throughout CA.
  • Project management, including the development and management of scopes, schedule and budgets for coastal‑oriented projects and tasks.
  • Participate and eventually lead proposal efforts for coastal engineering or adaptation projects.
  • Contribute to Stantec’s business‑development efforts in coastal engineering, adaptation and planning in the San Francisco Bay Area.
  • Establish and grow Stantec’s connections to coastal clients by tracking business opportunities and developing relationships with clients.
  • Work with and mentor junior staff.
  • Oversee staff involved in coastal engineering and planning work.
  • Develop coastal adaptation plans, engineering designs and modeling, and/or review the work of coastal staff.
  • Communicate effectively and apply a high level of understanding of the principles and practices of coastal engineering, planning or adaptation.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master of Science degree in Civil, Coastal, Environmental Engineering, Planning, or related field with 10+ years of experience in one of the areas of expertise listed above, OR
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Coastal, or Environmental Engineering, Planning, or related field with 15+ years of experience in one of the areas of expertise listed above.
  • Demonstrated high level of understanding of the principles and practices of coastal engineering, planning or adaptation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to conduct effective client and agency presentations and produce written technical reports.
  • Experienced in client engagement, business development and have an established professional network in SF Bay.
  • Strong understanding and experience navigating the coastal regulatory and planning landscape in SF Bay.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current registration as Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in California.
  • Strong project management experience, with the ability to organize and rally a diverse team to execute a scope on schedule and on budget.
  • Have established relationships with potential clients and local public agencies.
  • Track record of winning coastal engineering, adaptation or planning work in the SF Bay Area.
Pay Range
  • Locations in NYC & CA (Bay Area) & NJ (RP)-$ - $ Annually
Benefits Summary
