Pay Range:$24 to $27/hr

Contract : 6 Months , Contract to Hire

Summary

The primary role of a Phlebotomist is to assist with a variety of assigned duties including specimen collection, workflow support, troubleshooting, training, and making recommendations for process improvement.

Position Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture using straight and butterfly needles with proper technique and patient care.
• Collect and store blood, urine, fecal, and other specimens according to established protocols.
• Clearly and courteously explain the specimen collection process to patients.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by specific test orders.
• Verify all test requisitions or computer-generated labels against physician scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
• Prepare and package specimens for transport to appropriate testing facilities.
• Store specimen samples at correct temperatures and handle all specimens per regulatory and lab guidelines.
• Record equipment maintenance data and follow proper decontamination procedures.
• Accurately update and maintain patient information in lab systems.
• Troubleshoot basic lab and collection issues and provide workflow improvement suggestions.

Assist in training new staff when necessary and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
