Job Summary

This position provides research support to the UC Davis Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC), and specifically, multiple research studies that will examine life course factors that influence brain health and cognitive decline. The candidate will perform specific clinical evaluations and provide specialized research assessments of cognitive and independent function of older adults. Most of these activities will occur in study participants’ homes throughout the Sacramento and Bay Areas.

The candidate will record results of these assessments and will be responsible for all data entry; they may also present findings to a team. The incumbent to this position must be sensitive to the physical and psychological needs of the elderly.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Required to hold a valid California driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
  • Previous experience in a research capacity/environment required.
  • Experience reviewing medical records to identify information relevant to cognitive decline, cognitive impairment or dementia.
  • Experience entering data and documenting patient assessments in electronic medical record keeping systems.
  • Experience consenting subjects for research studies.
  • Knowledge and ability to perform standard physical and neurological exams.
  • Knowledge and understanding of disease processes and ability to organize and summarize data for clinical research studies.
  • Ability to understand and use scientific and medical terminology.
  • Data management experience.
  • Knowledge of the university’s policies and procedures related to research, human subjects, and clinical trials are required.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex agency policies and guidelines, protocol and research reports is required.
  • Knowledge and ability to proficiently use a personal computer with Microsoft Word or Word Perfect, spreadsheet and database software experience is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, yet retain a teamwork attitude is required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to interact in a helpful, effective and informative manner with a wide variety of people, using tact and diplomacy is required.
  • Excellent organizational skills including ability to independently prioritize and coordinate many work assignments in the most efficient manner and meet deadlines with frequent interruptions is required.
  • Ability to design and maintain an efficient filing and record keeping system is required.
  • Ability to handle PHI and HIPAA confidential material is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of English grammar and punctuation to compose and edit correspondence documents and reports, utilizing excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills is desirable.
  • Excellent typing skills necessary for a variety of error‑free letters/memoranda, documents, forms, etc. is desired.
Preferred Qualifications
  • State Phlebotomy Certification
  • Completion of medical training program at a U.S. accredited school of medicine or be a graduate of a medical school located outside the US and Canada that is listed in the International Medical Education Directory (IMED) of the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) preferred.
  • Ability to speak Spanish
  • Ability to utilize dictation equipment, printers, copiers and fax machines is desired.
  • Ability to review laboratory test results or consultation reports for error, omissions or inconsistencies is desired.
