Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Database Systems Administrator to design, manage, optimize, and secure enterprise database platforms across Mongo

DB (No

SQL) and relational SQL databases. Primary requirements are skills as a DBA and reliability/platform Engineer, with Mongo

DB, Redis, Oracle and Hbase, though Hbase and Oracle is not an absolute requirement are migrating off of them. Experience creating, managing and use of above mentioned databases would be ideal. Primary database being Mongo

DB both on-prem and Atlas.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands‑on experience with clustered database environments, on‑premises and cloud deployments (including Mongo

DB Atlas), Strong knowledge of AWS EKS, Kubernetes (as we are migrating from EC2 instances of Mongo to EKS) and performance tuning in high‑availability, large‑scale systems. This role also requires automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) expertise to support modern CI/CD‑driven environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer, maintain, and support Mongo

    DB (No

    SQL) and SQL databases in production environments.
  • Design and manage clustered and distributed database architectures, including replica sets, sharding, and partitioning.
  • Deploy and support databases across on-premises, cloud, and Mongo

    DB Atlas environments.
  • Perform database performance tuning and query optimization to improve throughput, latency, and reliability.
  • Analyze and optimize queries, indexes, schemas, rows, columns, and partitions.
  • Manage stored procedures, database objects, and schema changes.
  • Ensure data integrity, availability, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Monitor database health, capacity, and performance using industry‑standard tools.
  • Implement and enforce security best practices, access controls, encryption, and compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with application, Dev Ops, and infrastructure teams to align database design with application needs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database‑related issues in high‑availability environments.
  • Automate database provisioning, configuration, and maintenance tasks.
Required Technical Skills & Expertise
  • Database Technologies:
    • Mongo

      DB / No

      SQL
      • Document‑based data modeling (BSON/JSON)
      • Schema design and flexibility
      • Sharding, replication, and clustering
      • Mongo

        DB Query Language (MQL)
    • SQL Databases
      • Relational data modeling (tables, rows, columns)
      • Strong knowledge of SQL, stored procedures, and transactions
      • Performance tuning for complex joins and queries
  • Understanding of ACID vs BASE, CAP theorem, and data consistency models is a plus.
  • Experience with HQL, HBase, or similar big data query/storage systems is a plus.
  • Performance & Optimization:
    • Query optimization and execution plan analysis.
    • Indexing strategies
    • Database performance tuning
    • Partitioning and data distribution strategies
  • Infrastructure & Dev Ops (Bonus):
    • Strong knowledge of AWS cloud, preferably EKS, Kubernetes (as wea are migrating from EC2 instances of Mongo to EKS)
    • Scripting & Automation (Bash, Python, or similar)
    • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
    • Experience deploying databases in Kubernetes environments.
    • CI/CD pipelines and automation
    • Version control using Git Hub and Git Hub Actions
  • Other

    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
    • 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator / Database Systems Administrator.
    • Proven experience supporting production, high‑traffic database environments.
    • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Mongo

    DB Atlas in production environments.
  • Exposure to large-scale distributed systems and data platforms.
