Job Description
Under the supervision of the LVN Supervisor/Nurse Manager, the Licensed Vocational Nurse
- Pediatric Dermatology provides direct nursing care for pediatric patients in Ambulatory Pediatric Specialties practices, with primary assignment supporting Pediatric Dermatology. Coordinates outpatient care, performs patient intake, obtains vital signs, reconciles medications, administers medications and immunizations, performs laboratory procedures, assists providers during examinations and procedures, coordinates care between patients, families and the interdisciplinary team, documents care in Epic, and promotes safe, high-quality patient care while adhering to UCSF policies and Living PRIDE standards.
This position is 100% in-person onsite and requires flexibility to work at the following campuses:
Oakland, San Francisco, and satellite clinics.

The Pediatric Dermatology clinic cares for infants, children, and adolescents with common and rare skin disorders. Our team of board-certified pediatric dermatologists and experienced clinicians are specially trained and certified to care for children They have a deep knowledge of treating pediatric skin, hair, and nail disorders and understanding of how different procedures affect children’s health, appearance, and skin healing. The clinic offers diagnosis and care for atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, disorders of keratinization, inherited skin conditions (i.e. ectodermal dysplasia), birthmarks, moles with atypical appearance, and many other skin, hair and nail conditions.

- 20 Yes Provides comprehensive outpatient nursing care including intake, vital signs, medication review, specimen collection, medication/vaccine administration, patient assessment, documentation, patient privacy, room preparation, assistance with procedures and treatments. Provides developmentally appropriate nursing care.
- 20 Yes Assists with procedures. Prepares sterile field, preps site (skin antisepsis), position, and drapes patient, collects specimen from providers. For dressings, applies, cleans, or removes dressings/bandages for closed surgical incision or stage 1 and 2 wounds. Applies dressings for compression or vascular compression. May remove suture and staples per policy and provides written post-removal care instructions.
- 20 Yes Coordinates continuity of care through Epic documentation, telephone communication, patient follow‑up, coordination with providers, obtaining outside records, referrals, and communication with patients, families, pharmacies, and community resources.
