Role Description

The School Nurse at ISI Academy is a part-time, on-site role based in Walnut Creek, CA. The School Nurse provides direct student care, including assessing health concerns, administering first aid, managing medications, and monitoring chronic conditions in coordination with families and healthcare providers. This role supports school health policies, maintains accurate health records, and ensures compliance with state and local regulations.

The School Nurse promotes health education, collaborates with educators and coaches to address student wellness needs, and assists in emergency response planning and implementation. Daily responsibilities include evaluating students who present with illness or injury, determining appropriate care or referrals, and contributing to a safe, healthy learning and training environment for all student athletes.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated expertise in School Nursing and School Health, with experience in a school or pediatric setting.
  • Strong Nursing and Pediatrics skills, including assessment, triage, and age-appropriate care for children and adolescents.
  • Relevant Medicine knowledge to manage common school-based health issues, injuries, and chronic conditions safely.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in California;
    School Nurse Services Credential or progress toward credential is preferred.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid; experience with emergency response and care coordination.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with students, families, educators, and coaches, and to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills for maintaining confidential health records and managing multiple priorities during active school and training hours.
  • Commitment to student wellness, inclusion, and culturally responsive care in an academic and athletic setting.
