Infection Prevention Nurse - LVN (Healthcare)

Tice Valley Post Acute is seeking a dedicated and experienced Full-Time Infection Preventionist (IP) - LVN to join our clinical team. This is a full-time salaried position responsible for leading and coordinating the facility's infection prevention and control program while supporting a safe, healthy environment for residents, employees, and visitors.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, knowledgeable in infection prevention practices, and passionate about maintaining the highest standards of resident care and regulatory compliance.

Position Summary

The Infection Preventionist (IP) is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, evaluating, coordinating, and directing the facility's infection prevention and control program in accordance with current federal, state, local, CDC, OSHA, and applicable long-term care regulations and guidelines.

The IP works collaboratively with nursing leadership, facility departments, employees, residents, families, and government agencies to identify infection risks, implement appropriate interventions, monitor compliance, and promote a culture of safety throughout the facility.

Infection Prevention & Control
  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, coordinate, and direct the facility's infection prevention and control program.
  • Ensure compliance with current CDC, OSHA, state, local, and applicable regulatory requirements related to infection prevention and standard/universal precautions.
  • Develop, maintain, and periodically update infection prevention policies, procedures, isolation precautions, and aseptic techniques.
  • Identify problem areas and develop corrective actions to improve infection prevention practices.
  • Interpret infection prevention policies and procedures for staff and departments as needed.
  • Maintain current infection prevention reference materials and resources.
  • Monitor infection prevention practices throughout the facility and ensure staff follow established procedures.
  • Conduct regular rounds of nursing units to identify potential infections, review environmental sanitation practices, and monitor isolation precautions.
  • Visit residents requiring isolation or infection control precautions to ensure appropriate practices are followed.
  • Review and analyze infectious disease laboratory reports and collaborate with the Director of Nursing Services regarding appropriate interventions and care planning.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of decontamination and sterilization procedures.
  • Monitor sterilization equipment, sterile packs, bundles, and supplies, including appropriate testing and shelf-life requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate handling, disposal, and removal of infectious and contaminated materials.
  • Maintain accurate records related to resident and employee infections.
  • Prepare monthly summaries of resident and employee infections, corrective actions, and outcomes.
  • Prepare reports and summaries regarding suspected or confirmed healthcare-associated and community-acquired infections.
  • Provide the Director of Nursing Services and Administrator with written and verbal reports, findings, and recommendations regarding infection prevention.
  • Participate in investigations involving potential sources or outbreaks of infection.
  • Participate in surveillance activities and investigations involving residents and employees.
  • Report required communicable and reportable diseases to appropriate county and state health departments.
  • Monitor and assist with the facility's TB management and control program.
  • Maintain required infection prevention documentation, reports, studies, and records.
