Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies, Workers Compensation Division, invites applications for a Software Engineer
3. This role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions across on‑premises, hybrid, and cloud environments, utilizing C#, .NET and React. The position requires a senior developer capable of leading complex projects and collaborating closely with architects, senior engineers, and stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and high‑performance systems.
- Lead the design, development, and delivery of advanced software solutions using C#, .NET, and React across multiple environments.
- Architect and implement microservices, APIs, and cloud‑native applications that are scalable, maintainable, and highly available.
- Act as a technical leader within the team, mentoring junior engineers and setting technical direction.
- Collaborate with the Architecture Center of Excellence and stakeholders to define and implement high‑level architectural solutions.
- Design, optimize, and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments in hybrid and cloud environments.
- Work closely with product managers, business analysts, and Dev Ops engineers to align on requirements and technical solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to performance, security, and scalability.
- Conduct and participate in code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and architectural guidelines.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and lead adoption of relevant innovations within the team.
- Provide technical leadership in system architecture, API design, cloud‑based solutions, and software scalability.
- Support cloud migration strategies and ensure application environments are stable, secure, and meet performance expectations.
- Implement governance, performance monitoring, and optimization for applications across all environments.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal security standards (e.g., SOX, PCI‑DSS).
- Collaborate with the cybersecurity team to safeguard applications against threats and vulnerabilities.
- Develop audit procedures, risk assessments, and disaster recovery plans for critical applications.
- Ensure QA processes adhere to industry standards such as ISO, GDPR, and HIPAA.
- Maintain test documentation and implement traceability of test cases to requirements.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, without requiring, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.
- Minimum of 8 years of proven experience as a Software Engineer with expertise in C# and .NET.
- Strong technical experience across on‑premises, hybrid, and cloud environments.
- Advanced experience with Dev Ops practices including CI/CD pipelines, IaC, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and development tools (Jira, Git).
- Experience leading large‑scale projects and delivering enterprise‑level software in hybrid and cloud environments.
- Front‑end technologies such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
- Deep understanding of cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS, cloud‑native architecture, and hybrid cloud strategies.
- Expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining microservices and APIs in distributed environments.
- Solid understanding of software architecture patterns (event‑driven, domain‑driven design).
- Strong knowledge of relational and non‑relational databases (SQL Server, MongoDB).
- Mentoring and technical guidance abilities.
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible) and automation tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline preferred.
- Certifications in cloud platforms or relevant technologies preferred.
