Overview

Rossmoor is a senior living community with 27 holes of golf and a full-service golf shop. Located in Walnut Creek California, it has 9,700 residents and does approximately 74,000 rounds per year. First opened in 1964, Rossmoor is the premier retirement community in the Bay Area.

• 1-3 years of experience at a private or high-end daily fee golf facility.
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the game and rules of golf.
• Demonstrated understanding of golf instruction theory and practice including those with physical limitations.
• Ability to develop and leverage relationships within the community and organization to achieve objectives of the department.
• Demonstrated skill in organizing and controlling situations involving large groups of people.
• Demonstrated computer competence, particularly Golf Genius, NCGA handicapping, and Microsoft programs (Word, Excel and Outlook).
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, guests, and staff, while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule from 6:00 am to 7 pm, 7 days a week.
• Ability to be a team player while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
• Exceptional customer service skills, service commitment to members, guests, and fellow staff.
• Active member of the Professional Golfers Association Level 1 or Level 2 (PGA) certification is required.
• B.A. or B.S. college degree is preferred, or commensurate years of applicable work experience.
• A passionate fan of the game.
• Ability to play with Members, discussing the industry, taking a genuine interest in the Member golf experience.

REPORTS TO: Head Golf Professional

The Assistant Golf Professional will assist with all aspects of the day-to-day operation, while delivering excellent customer service to Rossmoor residents and their guests. Some of the most important components of the operation include tee sheet management, group tournaments, merchandising, range staff, and instruction. This is a Regular Full-Time position (40 hrs/wk) with full RWC benefits. The current vacancy is for a candidate with Level 2 PGA certification and 2-3 years experience.

• Promote the game of golf in a manner consistent with RWC policies, procedures, and rules. Interpret and enforce golf rules and regulations and club policies and regulations.
• Provide golf instruction and clinics.
• Responsible for timely opening and closing of facilities as directed by the Head Golf Professional or their designee.
• Support all golf shop operations including but not limited to: making reservations, checking players in, answering questions, starting players on both courses. Handle all types of transactions that involve rental carts and equipment, merchandise purchases, range and lesson purchases and be able to follow cash handling guidelines to accurately complete all transactions for individual customers, groups, and tournaments.
• Assist with merchandising, special orders, and inventory controls.
• Assist in planning, organizing, and executing tournaments, member events, and Monday outings through the Golf Genius system.
• Communicate effectively with residents, guests, and staff, while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• May supervise outside service providers and Part Time On Call staff in the absence of the Head Golf Professional and Golf Shop Manager.
