We are accepting applications for Instructional Aide II for our Transitional Kindergarten classrooms. At this time, we have 1 part time openings for a 6-hour, 9.5-month employee at Quail Summit elementary school. The work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Basic Job Function

Under general supervision of the principal or designee, provide support to the teacher and students in the classroom/program; perform supportive instructional activities as directed by the teacher; assist with student behavior; perform clerical record keeping and supportive tasks for instructional personnel; relieve the instructional staff of routine clerical tasks related to the instructional program; assist in the conduct of intensified learning experiences;

other related work as required.

Essential Job Functions
  • Assist instructional personnel with the presentation of learning materials and the conduct of instructional exercises
  • Tutor individual students and small groups of students to reinforce and follow up on learning activities
  • Correct and score student work and return to student
  • Perform a variety of classroom-related clerical tasks, including typing, sorting, filing, and copying, while maintaining records and files and establishing organized working files for teachers and school personnel
  • Monitor and assist students during drills, practices, and study activities, directing them into safe learning environments while promoting appropriate social behaviors and managing student conduct through positive strategies and techniques
  • Type routine teacher-prepared instructional materials from rough notes
  • Assist students with the operation of instructional media machines and equipment
  • May administer and score a variety of criterion-referenced and general aptitude tests and record results
  • Requisition, store, and maintain an appropriate inventory of textbooks, instructional materials, supplies, and equipment
  • Assist in maintaining an orderly, attractive, and positive learning environment
  • May participate in parent conferences and other student progress report activities
  • May assist the general public by answering routine questions and providing information concerning the general services of the school
  • May help monitor and supervise students during lunch, snack time, or field trips
  • Provide the teacher with relevant feedback on students’ behavior when needed
  • Support students during mainstreaming activities and/or when in transition times
  • Assist students with self-management activities when appropriate
  • May assist students with toileting accidents or hygiene needs
  • Participate in classroom cleanliness related to student hygiene, including sanitizing tables and learning materials, supervising students with hand washing, and administering minor first aid as needed
  • Participate in professional development opportunities offered by the department, school site, and District that are held during employee’s work hours and work year
  • May participate in professional development opportunities outside employee’s work hours and work year

Job Requirements and Qualifications Skill, Knowledge, and/or Ability Required

Skill to:

  • Perform routine clerical tasks and operate a variety of educational and office-related machines and equipment
  • Proficiently use a keyboard to provide input on a computer or typewriter device
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions with minimal supervision
  • Prioritize and identify needs and solve problems independently as appropriate

Knowledge of:

  • Subject matter in the areas of mathematics, writing, and reading
  • Basic concepts of child growth and development, and developmental behavior characteristics
  • Student behavior management strategies and techniques
  • Current technology, including the computer and other common digital devices
  • Appropriate English usage, punctuation, spelling, and grammar
