Overview - THIS IS A TEMPORARY, HOURLY AS NEEDED POSITION WITHOUT PERMANENT STATUS. This is a CONTINUOUS RECRUITMENT for an applicant POOL to fill part-time, temporary, hourly assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises. You will be contacted by the hiring manager should the department/division be interested in scheduling an interview.

OVERVIEW Teaching Structural Design Level 1 to architecture students.

Minimum Qualifications
- A. The minimum of one of the following awarded/conferred from a regionally accredited institution:
Any Bachelor's degree and two (2) full-time equivalent years of professional experience directly related to the faculty member's teaching assignment; OR Any Associate's degree and six (6) full-time equivalent years of professional experience directly related to the faculty member's teaching assignment; OR The equivalent (please request an equivalency review in the application); OR California Community College credential, "Valid for Life" (no longer issued), authorizing service as an instructor in the appropriate discipline;

refer to Ed Code § 87355 (If meeting qualifications with this credential, a copy of the valid lifetime credential must be submitted with the application.); AND

B. Commitment to the community college goals/objectives of providing quality programs and services for students with diverse abilities and interests; personal qualities to work effectively and sensitively in a multicultural environment; awareness and commitment to the special needs of non-traditional students.

Preferred Qualifications
- Communicate effectively to students orally and in writing. Degree and experience in the field of Landscape Architecture or Architecture. Knowledge of industry/Academic software (ACAD, Revit, Rhino3D, Grasshopper, Ladybug, Enscape, Adobe Suite (Photoshop/Illustrator/InDesign).

License(s) & Other Requirements
- This position may periodically be required to get to a variety of locations. If operating a vehicle, employees must have the ability to secure and maintain a valid California driver's license.

Working Environment:

  • Teach Architectural Design courses and related topics (design, BIM/CAD, Parametric design, blueprint reading, construction methods/practice) in person and online.
  • Develop and update syllabi, instructional materials, lesson plans, and laboratory exercises that align with student learning outcomes and college standards.
  • Meet with program and department faculty as required for program development, evaluations, and related course management. Participate in curriculum reviews.
  • Hold regular office hours and provide academic advising on coursework and certifications/Licensure (NCARB, ARE, LARE) to students.
  • Prepare and submit all necessary documents to the Division and Department promptly as required.
  • Maintain currency in industry technologies, CAD (AutoCAD, Rhino3d), BIM (Revit), CG rendering, digital fabrication, and parametric software, and teaching methods.
  • Foster relationships with design and construction firms for internships and outreach.
