About the Opportunity
The Engineering, Traffic, and Survey Division (ETS) in the Department of Land Use and Transportation is recruiting for a Plan Review Engineer position primarily assigned engineering plan review duties for transportation infrastructure improvements within the right-of-way. The position will review plans and coordinate with the engineer-of-record in an electronic plan review system to ensure conformance with the County’s Road Design and Construction Standards on projects of higher complexity, scope, and scale including transportation maintenance projects, capital projects, development related improvement projects, and other infrastructure related projects.
Key Responsibilities- Review engineering plans for compliance with county standards on transportation infrastructure projects.
- Coordinate with engineer-of-record via electronic plan review system.
- Provide direct technical and procedural assistance and review work from technical engineering staff.
- Assist higher level engineering staff with technical and professional tasks.
- Knowledge of: Principles and practices of civil engineering used in roadway, drainage, or bridge design; construction materials and techniques for public works projects.
- Skills to: Provide timely, effective, and efficient service to clients and employees; identify complex problems and develop options; work collaboratively for successful project delivery.
- Abilities to: Understand and interpret engineering construction plans; conduct technical research and solve difficult engineering problems; ensure project compliance with state, federal, and local rules, laws, and regulations; communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- A Master's Degree in civil engineering, construction engineering management, surveying, or a closely related field; AND two (2) years of transportation-related experience applying civil engineering theory, principles, and methods with an emphasis on maintenance, plan preparation and review, road and bridge construction, and/or design.
- OR a Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering, construction engineering management, surveying, or a closely related field; AND four (4) years of transportation-related experience with the same emphasis.
- Valid driver's license in the State of Oregon with an acceptable driving record per Washington County policy.
- Registration as a professional civil engineer with a license to practice in Oregon within six (6) months of appointment.
