Walpole Public Schools is seeking a Emergent Multilingual Learners (EML) Teacher split between Boyden and Old Post Road Elementary Schools, effective immediately, for the remainder of the school year.
Job Description and Responsibilities:
* Initial assessment of students PreK-12 who use a language other than English, according to the DESE Language Survey, to determine eligibility in the ELE program.
* Inform parents/guardians in English and their home language of all placement, redesignation and exit decisions.
* Maintain accurate ELE checklists documenting all instruction, progress, and assessment scores.
* Ensure that ELE student records are updated and maintained at each school.
* Assess ML students in the ELE program at the beginning of each academic year and periodically throughout the school year to measure progress.
* Maintain a portfolio of the ML student's work to assist in determining student progress.
* Administer the ACCESS to students in the ELE program in grades K-12.
* Review placement of all ELE Program students annually. This includes progress of students who have opted out of the ELE Program.
* Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers and district EML teachers to further ML student progress.
* Develop the English language proficiency of MLs in the ELE program according to DESE guidelines.
* Follow the DESE Guidance on English Learner Education Services and Programming and the Walpole Public Schools ELE Program Information Guide.
* Further support sheltered instruction available to MLs in the SEI classroom in inclusion or pull-out settings.
* Provide regular EML Progress Reports to parents of ELE program students.
* Provide Former ELE and Opt Out Monitor Reports at regular intervals in accordance with district marking periods.
* Provide translated ELE program documents, as requested, to ELE families.
* Inform school administration of the need for interpreters/translators for meetings.
* Enhance Family and Community Engagement of ELE program parents according to Standard III of DESE Education Evaluation rubric.
* Participate in the ML PAC as requested.
* Monitor progress of students who have been exited from the program (Former ELE) for four years.
* Other duties as required by school and district supervisors.
Salary range per the WTA Contract (pages 6-9).

Current DESE Licensure as ESL Teacher (PreK-6)
