Summary:
TEC Connections Academy Commonwealth Virtual School (TECCA CMVS) is a full‑time tuition‑free virtual public school district that employs over 200 faculty and staff and serves 3,000 students across K‑12 in Massachusetts.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all special education timelines
- Attend IEP meetings, write IEPs, and complete progress reports twice per school year
- Review curriculum and devise alternate approaches to presenting lessons to increase student understanding, working directly with students, parents, and teachers
- Communicate regularly with parents, students, curriculum specialists and teachers to develop and update IEPs, schedules, provide feedback on student work, suggest instructional approaches and strategies, monitor completion of assignments, and coach special projects
- Work collaboratively with other teachers to ensure that all students successfully progress through the program, that parents have a central point of contact, and tasks are distributed among teachers
- Support students, parents and teachers with alternate strategies and provide additional assistance with daily assignments and projects
- Maintain student records and data, including cumulative files, online student and family information, attendance accounting, and logging all student and parent contacts
- Consult with other teachers and staff learning specialists to develop alternate enrichment activities and modifications to students’ programs to increase student understanding
- Participate in the organization and administration of State Testing, as directed
- Participate in student outreach sessions and other activities that require teacher representation
- Work with Advisory Teachers and School Counselor to ensure that students and families receive appropriate communications, students make adequate progress, and established goals are met
- Other duties as assigned
- Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities license in Massachusetts
- Provide a Massachusetts RETELL/SEI endorsement within one year of employment
- Strong technology skills, especially with Microsoft OS and Microsoft Office programs
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Student‑focused approach

- Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast‑paced environment
- Team‑player track record
- Willingness or ability to travel to state testing events (may require occasional overnight travel)
- Ability to work remotely, if necessary
- Although TECCA is a virtual school, there are several in‑person requirements with this job
- TECCA teachers licensed by MA DESE enjoy the benefits of membership in the MA Teachers Retirement System
- At least one year of relevant experience preferred
- Master’s degree preferred
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
