TECCA Connections Academy Commonwealth Virtual School (TECCA) is a tuition-free virtual public school district that employs over 240 faculty and staff, serving our diverse population of approximately 3,000 students in Grades K–12 from cities and towns across Massachusetts.

Job Summary:

The Special Education Paraprofessional supports students with disabilities under the direction of building administration or designee. The paraprofessional assists in implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), supporting academic and behavioral goals, and fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist special education teachers in delivering instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students in general education and/or special education classrooms.
  • Implement behavior intervention plans and support positive behavior strategies.
  • Help students with activities of daily living, which may include toileting, feeding, mobility, and hygiene, if required.
  • Adapt classroom materials and modify assignments under the guidance of the teacher to meet students’ needs.
  • Support students with using assistive technology and accommodations.
  • Supervise students in various virtual and in person (when appropriate) school settings (classrooms, field trips, etc.).
  • Document student progress, both academically and/or social-emotionally through observations as directed by the teacher or student liaison.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all federal and state regulations regarding special education.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development as required.
  • Other duties outlined in the Employee Handbook and as assigned by the school principal.
Position and Salary

Position Type: Full-time
Salary: $45,347 to $67,986 Per Year

Qualifications and Requirements
  • High school diploma required, associate/bachelor s or higher preferred
  • Prior experience working with children, especially those with disabilities is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to follow directions, collaborate with staff, and work independently when needed.
  • Physically able to perform tasks associated with student care and mobility (lifting, standing, etc.).
  • Understands the needs of learners, has flexibility to shifts or transitions to support students
  • May work in classroom, resource room, or other school setting.
  • Majority of time is in a virtual setting, but throughout the year there are also in person days
  • May require lifting or physical assistance of students with mobility challenges.
  • May involve managing behaviors that require calm, consistent intervention.
  • Strong technology skills (especially with Microsoft OS and MS Office programs/Google products)
  • Location Assignment:
    As a new hire, you will be required to come to our office at 141 Mansion Dr. East Walpole, MA. for training
  • At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
  • High School/Trade School degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
