Job Description

Walpole Public Schools is seeking a Student Outreach Coordinator to work 35 hours per week starting August 31, 2026 for the  school year.

The Student Outreach Coordinator maintains student attendance records, communicates with families regarding attendance, and supervises the student support room for students sent from class or in school suspension.

Responsibilities
  • The SOC will supervise students sent from class with discipline infractions and notify the corresponding Assistant Principal of their presence and infraction.
  • The SOC will supervise in‑school suspension when needed.
  • The SOC will be the point of contact for all attendance‑related issues, including, but not limited to:
    • checking students in tardy
    • checking students out early for dismissal
    • checking in students who return to school after dismissal
    • answering emails that come in on the attendance email
    • reaching out to students' parents/guardians regarding attendance
  • This part of the position will allow the SOC to have the most direct interaction with students who may exhibit concerning attendance patterns.
  • The SOC will assign students tardy detentions as they are accrued and follow up with students and/or parents/guardians if they are not served promptly.
  • The SOC will make contact with absent students’ parents/guardians to determine the reason for absences and ensure students return to school as soon as possible.
  • The SOC will focus on students with chronic absenteeism by tracking those students who are exhibiting a pattern of chronic absenteeism and arranging to meet with them after each absence. Reasons for the absence will be discussed to determine the root cause of the absence. Support and resources should be offered to enable the student to attend school. By providing an SOC to work with the students to provide any necessary cognitive, social, and emotional support, including referrals as needed, the number of students who are chronically absent at WHS will decrease.
  • The SOC should refer students to other personnel (administration, counseling, nursing, etc.) for academic, emotional, and behavioral support as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records on the student information system (Aspen/X2), along with use of Google spreadsheets to track student data and performance.
  • Other duties as assigned by Assistant Principals or Principal.
Qualifications
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Must work well as a team member
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred
  • Teaching and/or tutoring experience preferred, especially with at‑risk students
