Full-Time — One Year 8/31/26 - 6/15/27 (183 days)

Role: TEC Academy - Phoenix Campus serves students in grades 6-12 with emotional and behavioral challenges. The Science Teacher provides daily instruction in science aligned with MA Curriculum Frameworks in a flexible, differentiated classroom setting.

Organization

The Education Cooperative (TEC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in

E. Walpole, MA that supports 19 member communities with educational programs. TEC Academy is a DESE-approved public day school for students in Grades K-2 and 6-12 with academic, emotional, or behavioral challenges in a small, structured setting.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities
  • Assess students’ skills to determine learning needs.
  • Plan engaging lessons with clear, measurable objectives aligned to curriculum standards and adapted to student needs.
  • Plan, organize, and assign activities specific to each student’s abilities.
  • Teach and mentor students in whole-class, small-group, and one-on-one settings.
  • Implement IEPs, assess performance, and track progress.
  • Discuss student progress with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators.
  • Supervise teacher assistants who work with students with disabilities.
  • Prepare and help students transition from grade to grade and post-graduation.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with colleagues and district representatives to improve student outcomes.
  • Collaborate in the development of IEP planning notes and IEP progress reports.
  • Maintain updated student records, including IEPs and required data, in accordance with records regulations.
  • Participate in staff and other professional development meetings, conferences, and trainings (e.g., Safety Care).
  • Integrate technology into classroom practice as an instructional tool and for personal productivity.

  • Strong instructional pedagogy.
  • Experience with students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs and/or trauma history.
  • Commitment to creating a welcoming, safe, supportive, and challenging environment for all students.
  • Strong communication, judgment, and decision-making skills.
  • Proactive, flexible thinking; calm, supportive demeanor in challenging situations.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and community members.
  • Ability to work collaboratively on a professional team.
  • Technological proficiency for reporting and electronic communication.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality.

Salary: $57,406 to $115,513 per year

  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • BA degree from an accredited college or university (Master’s Degree preferred)
  • MA teacher licensure in a science field, grades 8-12
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to speak clearly and hear in typical work environments
  • Vision to read printed documents and view detail on a computer screen
  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and reaching; occasional lifting up to 30 lbs
