Children are at the heart of Walsall local authority. They receive support, help and services that reduce risks for them and meet their needs. (Ofsted, 2025)

Do you want to join our OUTSTANDING local authority?

Team Manager in Team 3 within Children In Our Care.

We have an opportunity for an experienced social worker to work as a Team Manager within Team 4 working to achieve great and permanent outcomes for children in our care. In the role you will be positively and well supported by a Group Manager and be part of the support network across the wider management team. You will have responsibility of managing a Senior Practitioner, a Senior Social Worker, four Social Workers and a Children and families practitioner.

The culture of the service has changed to meet the changing needs of the children and families we work with, and as well as permanency planning for children and young people in our care the focus is also looking at whether they can return to parents through reunification and have the ethos of ‘children in our care for now’. The focus is also on relationship-based practice and working systemically with children, young people and their families, peers and professionals to ensure we achieve positive outcomes and aspirations for our children and young people in care.

We are excited to hear from practitioners who are interested in managing a team, support their Senior Practitioner with specific tasks, manage team performance and share their experience and knowledge to support development, help social workers to reflect and develop their practice and progress Care plans for children and young people.

If you are interested and would like to have an informal chat about the role and get a feel for it before deciding whether to apply, please feel able to get in touch with  – Group Manager of children in our care service.

This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers. The post holder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.
