Staff Accountant

Description

We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Waltham, Massachusetts. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with expertise in handling accounts payable, purchase orders, and corporate tax-related tasks. You will collaborate with team members to ensure financial accuracy and support various accounting projects as needed.

Responsibilities:

- Manage accounts payable processes, including invoice review and payment approvals.

- Handle purchase orders and maintain accurate documentation for financial transactions.

- Assist with corporate tax return preparation and filing, ensuring compliance with regulations.

- Perform routine journal entries and maintain the general ledger with precision.

- Conduct sales tax calculations and ensure timely reporting.

- Support ad hoc accounting projects as assigned to meet organizational needs.

- Collaborate with colleagues for cross-training and knowledge sharing.

- Utilize Excel for light data analysis and reporting tasks to support accounting functions.

Requirements - Proven experience in accounts payable and purchase order management.

- Strong knowledge of corporate tax, including preparation and compliance.

- Familiarity with sales tax reporting and calculations.

- Proficiency in performing journal entries and maintaining general ledger accuracy.

- Solid understanding of corporate tax returns and related processes.

- Basic proficiency in Excel for financial data analysis and reporting.

- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
