Senior Accountant

Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations and higher-level financial reporting and analysis. This role will play a key part in maintaining accurate financials, supporting an upcoming audit, and assisting with the implementation of cost accounting and inventory systems. The ideal candidate comes from a smaller or growing organization, is comfortable supporting payables, and brings strong GAAP accounting experience.

• Perform general accounting activities including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close
• Own financial statement preparation and analysis in accordance with U.S. GAAP
• Support financial analysis, variance analysis, and management reporting
• Manage approximately 15% of the role focused on Accounts Payable and vouchering, including review and posting from AP processes
• Assist with the implementation and ongoing support of cost accounting and inventory tracking systems
• Maintain the general ledger within Quick Books and support process improvements as systems evolve
• Prepare schedules and documentation to support an upcoming external audit and respond to auditor inquiries
• Partner with internal stakeholders to improve accuracy, controls, and financial visibility
• Participate in special projects related to accounting process improvements and system changes

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience
• Background in a small to mid-sized company environment preferred
• Strong understanding of GAAP and full-cycle accounting
• Comfortable supporting Accounts Payable while maintaining strong technical accounting skills
• Experience working in Quick Books or similar accounting systems
• Exposure to or interest in cost accounting and inventory accounting a plus
• Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work independently in a dynamic environment

Compensation for this role depends on factors including skill sets, experience, training, licensure and certifications, office location, and other business needs.
