The Oncology DMPK department provides integrated support across the portfolio—bioanalysis (BA), ADME, and translational PK/PD modeling and simulation. We partner closely with discovery and development teams to generate high quality data that informs candidate selection and accelerates decision making.
Role SummaryWe are seeking a Senior Scientist to join our ADME group in Waltham, reporting to the Director of DMPK. In this role, you will deliver BA and ADME support to Oncology discovery programs and contribute to the quantitative analysis of in vivo PK/PD studies across our global portfolio. You will collaborate with established ADME teams in Boston (US) and Cambridge (UK) and present findings in multidisciplinary settings.
Whatyou will do
Independently develop and validate bioanalytical methods, analyze biological samples using quantitative LC-MS/MS assays, analyse and present findings back to project teams.
Lead quality control and data review for BA to ensure accuracy, reproducibility, and regulatory readiness where applicable.
Conduct operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of key platforms: laboratory automation/liquid handling, mass spectrometers and LC equipment such as Hamilton liquid handling system, AB Sciex triple quadrupoles, HRMS and Shimadzu LC
Develop and implement state-of-the-art technologies in the field of drug metabolism.
Support the department’s leadership team in both the strategic vision for the department and in the efficient and progressive running of the department.
Ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practice, Safety, Health and Environment standards and all other relevant internal AstraZeneca standards and external regulations.
BS/MS (or equivalent) in pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, biochemistry, or related discipline, with 4+ years of industry experience.
A solid foundation in bioanalytical chemistry, with demonstrated expertise in LC‑MS/MS, including method development and quantitative analysis.
Hands-on experience with the operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting mass spectrometers and LC equipment; familiarity with laboratory automation/liquid handling and experience evaluating and implementing new bioanalytical technologies.
Experience conducting in vitro mechanistic studies to address ADME-related challenges is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving, organization, documentation, and communication skills; ability to thrive in a collaborative, multidisciplinary, fast‑paced environment.
