Second Shift Supervisor, Data Operations

Boston Dynamics is seeking a highly motivated Second Shift Supervisor, Data Operations to lead safe, day to day execution of second shift data operations. This role requires a dynamic servant leader with experience managing teams in an operations or production environment. In this role you will be solving problems no one has solved before, and you need to be comfortable charting your own path while managing competing priorities and stakeholder relationships.

The role requires a unique blend of operational discipline and creative problem solving, along with comfort absorbing and driving change at breakneck speed. The ideal candidate has good intuition on when to be scrappy versus disciplined, is analytical and empathetic, and above all is someone who drives and inspires results in others.

The Atlas Data Operations team consists of robot pilots who teleoperate robots and produce data to train Atlas, which is focused on advancing machine learning and manipulation capabilities. Your ideas will change what robots can do!

Boston Dynamics is a world leader in mobile robots, tackling some of the toughest robotics challenges. For years, our awe-inspiring viral videos on You Tube have shown the world what remarkably capable robots can do. Now we are quickly becoming a recognized leader in automation solutions for industrial applications and warehouse logistics.

How You Will Make An Impact:
  • Shift Execution & Process Management
  • Own the safe, end-to-end execution of second shift data collection operations across multiple species.
  • Promote a safe working environment on shift, quickly mitigating issues while driving long-term systemic solutions.
  • Manage standard work completion and adherence, and resolve learnings to unblock your team.
  • Provide real-time coaching to drive quality.
  • Be comfortable with difficult conversations to manage performance.
  • Act as a servant leader who is always willing to dive into the work to understand blockers and headwinds, or fill in for the most mundane tasks on shift as needed.
  • Partner across R&D, Fleet Operations, IT, and Building Operations, identifying the resources needed to solve a problem and influencing change to drive results.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Turn insight into action—gather insights from data, first-hand accounts, and observations, then quickly translate them into action plans you can complete with the resources at your disposal.
  • Use data to evaluate how your improvements are working, and be comfortable adjusting plans that aren't working.
  • Identify bottlenecks and develop creative solutions to resolve them.
  • Drive sustainable results through the design and implementation of durable tools and mechanisms.
You Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of employee performance management experience.
  • Demonstrated success leading large, fast-paced teams in an operations or production environment.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to turn data and observations into actionable plans.
  • Physical demands: ability to frequently stand, walk, push, pull, squat, and climb stairs for up to 12 hours at a time, as well as lift up to 49 pounds.
How You Approach This Role:
  • Dynamic servant leader who leads by example and is willing to dive into the work alongside the team.
  • Analytical and empathetic, with good intuition on when to be scrappy versus disciplined.
  • Self-motivated and relentless in pursuit of stellar results.
  • Comfortable charting an independent path and solving problems that have never been solved before.
  • Thrives in ambiguous, dynamic, and rapidly evolving environments, moving and adapting at breakneck speed.
  • Strong communicator, able to engage effectively with team members and cross-functional stakeholders.
