Position Summary:
Designs and teaches choreography for middle school productions. This stipend position supports Waltham Public Schools' drama program by providing students with high-quality theatrical experiences that promote artistic excellence, collaboration, creativity, inclusion, and student engagement.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead rehearsals for plays, musicals, revues, or dance theatre productions.
- Collaborate with directors, music staff, choreographers, costumers, and production personnel.
- Coordinate auditions, casting, rehearsal schedules, and performance preparation as appropriate.
- Support students' artistic growth in acting, singing, movement, and stage performance.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, inclusive, and student-centered rehearsal environment.
- Coordinate production logistics with school and district staff.
- Support costume, staging, or choreography responsibilities as applicable to the position.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Fine & Performing Arts.
- Develop age-appropriate choreography that reflects the artistic vision of the production.
Qualifications:
- Massachusetts educator license in Theatre, Music, Dance, or related field preferred, or demonstrated expertise appropriate to the assignment.
- Experience directing, choreographing, music directing, costuming, or supporting theatrical productions appropriate to the position.
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaborative skills.
- Availability for evening and weekend rehearsals and performances as required.
Terms of Employment:
This is a stipend position. Schedule and expectations are determined by the rehearsal and performance calendar and the Director of Fine & Performing Arts. Compensation Per the WEA Contract.
