The Outdoor Education Supervisor delivers and supports high-quality seasonal, outdoor, farm-based education programs year-round for our diverse community of WFCF youth and adult learners. These programs include our four seasonally based, on-farm, youth-centered perennial programs, field trips, school visits, adult and family workshops, and occasional outreach at fairs, farmers’ markets, and events. The Outdoor Education Supervisor works independently and collaboratively to plan, promote, prepare, and facilitate immersive, hands‑on programs;

manage online program registration, and to maintain our educational spaces and health and safety protocols. We seek individuals with a high level of accountability, a passion for our mission, a strong interest in educating and growing the community of learners we serve through our farm-based, experiential education programs.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise participants and facilitate programs both independently and as part of the education team.
  • Lead, direct, and supervise the seasonal summer education team.
  • Facilitate educational programs that focus on building community; exploration of growing and harvesting food; culinary arts and nutrition; the unique seasonal aspects of the farm including plants, animals, and insects; and the development of more intimate relationships between participants and the land we steward.
  • Develop and document approved age-appropriate curricula using existing WFCF resources; design and suggest new activities and lessons to create schedules of activities, recipes, games, songs, books, and projects. (Templates provided.)
  • Perform, instruct, and assist learners with gardening tasks to help to maintain the educational components and high standards of the educational growing spaces.
  • Facilitate hands‑on learning by implementing emergent curriculum and experiential learning strategies. Identify and support the unique, individual, and emerging interests of our young learners through play and hands‑on activities.
  • Source and develop curricula and materials necessary for high quality programming. Materials should align with WFCF principals and reduce waste, encourage reuse, minimal use of plastics, utilize compostable and biodegradable products.
  • Create, prepare, set up, manage, take down, and put away activity materials for program sessions .
  • Follow and enforce established health, safety, and food safety protocols.
  • Interact and build relationships with program participants, caregivers, and parents in an enthusiastic and friendly manner. Serve as caregivers/parents’ primary contact.
  • Assist with the set up, management, and troubleshooting of education events in the online registration system (Neon CRM); communicate with registering parents and caregivers.
  • Complete and submit incident/injury reports, attendance/registration reports, or other documentation as needed.
  • Participate in staff team meetings, team building activities, and all hands farm events.
  • Meet regularly one on one with the Director of Education and WFCF Associate Director to discuss development, professional goals, and organizational successes and challenges.
  • Help to promote educational programs by taking photos and short video, managing photo permissions, uploading, labeling, and sharing media files, assisting with social media (training provided) and serving as an ambassador while out in the community and at in-person promotional events.
Schedule and Hours

This is a part‑time, non‑exempt (hourly) position. Hours will vary throughout the year to match the seasonal nature of the farm and our programing, with the annual average being 29 hours a week.

Compensation and Benefits
